Use ½ cup for an average laundry load Basic laundry soap liquid The additional of glycerin and essential oil gives extra cleaning power while still being gentil;e on your clothes. • 1 ounce of liquid castile soap • 2 tablespoons of glycerin • 1 cup of washing soda • 1 cup of baking soda • 10 drops of essential oil of choice Combine all ingredients in a heavy plastic container and shake well before using. Use ¼ to ½ cup depending on the size of the load and how dirty your washing is. Hard water formula Hard water can affect the performance of your laundry soap this formula will not. • 1 cup of soap flakes or finely grated pure bar soap • 1 cup of washing soda • 2 cups of vinegar • 10 drops of essential oil of your choice Combine the soap, washing soda, and borax in a heavy plastic container blend the vinegar and essential oils in a separate container, preferably one with a pour spout. If you have fresh rosemary, you can steep, two sprigs of bruised rosemary in 1 cup of boiling water for 15 minutes, then strain or steep one teaspoon of dried, crushed rosemary leaves in 1 cup of boiling water for 15 minutes, then strain. if using essential oils then add 3 drops to 1 cup of hot water. Place the clothes in the washer and add the castile soap and rosemary infusion launder in cold water on the gentle cycle Baby’s laundry formula This formula is for babies that get really messy. • 2 drops of essential oil (optional) • 2 tablespoons of liquid castile soap • ¼ cup of washing soda • 1 cup of baking soda • ¼ cup of borax if using essential oil, mix with castile soap .add this mixture to washer along with the washing soda, and borax. Launder as usual Bright colors formula This recipe makes enough for one load • 1-ounce liquid castile soap (scented with 2 to 4 drops essential oil, if desired) • ¼ cup of washing soda • ¼ cup Epsom salts Add the liquid castile soap to washer then add washing soda and Epsom salts. Launder as usual. Fabric softeners Lavender fabric softener This formula is both effective and fragrant at the same time. • 1 gallon of vinegar • 20 drops of lavender essential oil Add the lavender essential oil to the vinegar right in the container and you’ve got instant fabric softener. Shake well before using. For a larger load, add 1 cup during the rinse cycle, use ½ cup during the rinse cycle for smaller loads. Minty fresh softener This formula gets rid of bad outdoor odors • 1 gallon of vinegar • 10 drops of peppermint essential oil Combine all ingredients in a heavy-duty plastic container. Add 1 cup to the rinse cycle for each load. Lemon fabric softener This is a fresh lemon fragrance that softens your clothes. • 6 cups of vinegar • 1 cup of water • 1 cup of baking soda • 15 drops of lemon or lemongrass essential oil Combine all ingredients in a heavy-duty plastic container. Add 1 cup to the rinse cycle for each load for truly lemon-fresh clothes.
