Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Aren't you all bored with mass consumerism, marketing and corporations selling us products that we don't actually need for our hard earned money?
As like countries like India and China start to fall into these pit falls isn't it time that we the noble people take the lead and start becoming more self sufficient, buying locally, selling and bartering and giving to the poor what we overproduce.
Teaching these skills on and start to put communities back together again.
Why do we always need a crisis to come together? Isn't it time that we become givers as well as takers. Self Sufficiency can be liberating and save money lets not try do too much at once lets take it step by step. Let not be ruled by supermarkets, governments and energy giants. Lets become self empowered.
Here are some tips:
1. Grow your own vegetable garden. Whether you have a garden, allotment, window box or place in a field or park. Why not dig a small whole plant and water and let Mother Nature do the rest. It will taste better and you will know that it has been produced ethically and it will cost just the price of the seeds. In fact just shop on our web site and we will give you seeds to grow thyme, sweet basil, parsley and chives to season your favourite foods.
2. Composting has got easier there are containers that even allow you to do it indoors for those of you who live in flats.
3. Collect rainwater and use it to cook water the plants, clean and drink. It is much better than the chemically treated tap water. Take short showers and if you a bath person why not share it with someone!
4. Want to know what to do with all that excess supermarket packaging - use it as pots to grow plants and vegetables.
5. Use and reuse things before throwing them away.
6. If you use a electrical devise try and use rechargeable batteries and if possible use a devise like Freeloader to power your radios and MP3 players ect. Winds up radios are also a good idea. Switch lights and TV's off if you are not using them. Cut down on TV viewing and spend more time outdoors.
7. Adjust your thermostat by 1 degree can save our planet 225 kg of CO2 and heating bills by 4% if you are cold try a jumper before increasing the temperature.
8. Insulate your house try to stop heat from escaping by insulating the loft and windows try and use materials with a low environmental impact to do this, like sheep¡¯s wool, straw and newspaper.

11. Reuse packaging and postal materials bits of string box fillers old boxes and jiffy bags a bit of tape will make it look new again.
12. Use a clothesline to dry clothes the clothes will last longer and smell fresher and you will save energy.
13. Use a laundry ball like the Aquaball in your washing machine these saves money water and electricity they are supercharged and give you results like non-biological detergents. They don't use harsh chemicals so they are better for you, your clothes and the environment and do 100's of washes and are totally refillable saving packaging and reducing your visits to the supermarket
14. Use a push mower instead of an electric one to me your lawn- its also great exercise.
15. Grow alfalfa to return nitrogen to the soil
16. Grow bamboo it stores more CO2 and generates 35% more oxygen than an equivalent strand of trees. A single tree provides enough oxygen for two people for their entire lives plus they provide habitats and food for birds and other wildlife
17. Install a reverse osmosis water purifier and stop buying and stop adding to the 155 billion litres of bottled water that we drink every year. If you enjoy coffee bring your own mug and say no to disposable cups and their lids that go into landfills
