EcoHip is an evolution of historical events. If you go on the journey, you have to know from where you’re going. Every step along the way we have to learn from our mistakes that we have made and continue what we have done right. Various events that have happened in the news have contributed to the makeup of our Psyche.

To get to the root of the problem of global warming let us have a look at the history of Rapa Nui (The Navel of the World), or better known as Easter Island which is a model example of where we are heading. It was considered as the paradise island, rich in food and beautiful. Easter Island is recognized by ecologist as a distinct ecoregion, the Rapa Nui subtropical broadleaf forests. But forests are gone now.

As Jared Diamond an evolutionary biologist pointed out:

"The overall picture for Easter is the most extreme example of forest destruction in the Pacific, and among the most extreme in the world: the whole forest gone, and all of its tree species extinct." (Diamond, Jared. 2005. Collapse. How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed. New York: Viking)

Rapa Nui is a good example of how human activity can not only change the landscape, but the whole ecosystem in general. It was careless, but moreover it was narcissistic as native Easter Islanders deforested the island in the process of erecting their statues to feed their egos.

We are heading for a grand scale Easter Island!

Unless we start to value Trees, Wildlife, Clean Air and Communities. We, the people, are more powerful than governments and its time to make responsible purchases, consume less, and use natural over man made both for our own health and the planets well being. Lets put the land first. The Native Americans and other advanced civilisations were in touch with this.

The 20th Century had its good points but it had its bad ones too culminating in the tsunami.

The Good

1968 The Wombles

1969 Woodstock

1971 Greenpeace

1996 A33 bypass

eco warriors the wombles eco event woodstock eco organization greenpeace eco warrior daniel hooper
The Wombles of Wimbledon are the frist famous 'eco warriors'. “Making good use of the things that the everyday folk leave behind" by author Elisabeth Beresford. The beginning of an idealistic eco movement and return to the roots. The one of the good guys started up with aggressive agenda to stop environmental damage. Daniel Hooper tried to stop a new bypass which was being constructed to carry the A34 around Newbury. The protestors had dug themselves into tunnels in woodland that was due to be cleared to build the road

The Bad

1940 Ray Kroc

John Lennon's Death

1989 Exxon Valdez

2008 Tata Nano Car

Ray Kroc and McDonald’s start the raise of Globalization and Consummerism as well as large deforrestation of Amazonian Rain Forrest, cows methane and nonbiodegradable packaging. John Lennon's shot is a big loss as a peace activist, and as a musician. I'm sure if he was alive today, he would be campaignin for the environment. Exxon Valdez Oil Spill is considered one of the most devastating man-made environmental disasters ever to occur at sea. There are concerns that Nano's extraordinarily low price might lead to mass motorization in countries like India and therefore possibly aggravate pollution and global warming as well as increase the demand for oil.

The Damn Ugly

1945 The Nuclear Tests

1986 Chernobyl

2004 Tsunami in Asia

2005 The Katrina

The production of nuclear weapons has created not only the threat of nuclear destruction on an immediate level through nuclear war, but also on a continual and protracted level through the creation of nuclear waste. Chernobyl disaster was the worst nuclear power plant accident in history and the only instance so far of level 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale, resulting in a severe nuclear meltdown. The earthquake triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing more than 225,000 people in eleven countries. Hurricane Katrina was the costliest and one of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States.

We have an obligation to sustain and maintain a healthy ecosystem and perhaps more selfishly according to many notable scientists experts in the field of global warming, our grandchildren will live in a world unrecognisable by even our low standards today. Tsunami could be a picnic by comparison

Lets look at the health advantages:
We are concerned about the unknown synergy (or ‘chemical cocktail’ effects) between the thousands of chemicals that are used in many cleaning and personal care products.

We realized that it was possible to avoid many of these toxins by using natural organic products that had been designed to perform to the same level as more traditional products but without using potentially harmful ingredients.

Natural products can now produce the same results as leading brands, but with noticeably less impact on the environment and avoiding the many potential health issues associated with many of the ‘traditional’ ingredients.

No one wants to create health scares, but more and more people are becoming concerned about the potential impact on health of a raft of products – from food to cosmetics to gadgets.

Substances previously thought of as harmless are being shown to be harmful and removed – such as Parabens. These synthetic chemicals are used as preservatives (i.e. they stop fungi and bacteria growing) in the cosmetics industry and can be found in most shampoos, moisturizers, shaving gels and toothpastes. Many people feel uncomfortable with the level of parabens that they are exposed to.

However, have you ever considered how many paraben-containing products might one person use over a 10-year period and how impossible it might be to measure the effects scientifically? Even the most modest user of personal care products will probably go through about 20 tubes of the parabens-containing products a year. Long-term health problems may not arise until after 20 years of use, so that is 4000 different products to catalogue for each person studied – impossible!

So if you have a niggling doubt that something isn’t right and you’d rather not be exposed to any more parabens than you have to, you can feel secure in the knowledge that all the products available from 21st Century Health are parabens-free.

Electromagnetic radiation is another good example. For years, there have been anecdotal stories about the effects of electricity pylons and phone masts, yet, to date, there are no scientific facts to prove any harmful effects. But – if there is something simple that you can do to neutralize this electromagnetic radiation…well, why not try a Bio Shield and see?

We hope that you enjoy our natural and wonderful green products and feel empowered to make further positive changes to your life.

The company was set up in 1995 by Steven & Gabrielle Chasan.
