EcoHip has a simple philosophy – to offer you to the best natural products around, so you can maintain a chemical-free home, body and spirit.

And the name EcoHip? Founder Steve Chasan explains: “The word hip means ‘now’ or ‘happening’. We believe the time is right to come together and start a green revolution.”

Because EcoHip is about more than just selling products. It’s a new way of looking at the world, believing that small steps gradually add up to making a big difference.

EcoHip is the brainchild of Steve and Gabrielle Chasan. When Steve and Gabsy got together back in 1995, they discovered that they not only shared an interest in environmental issues but had also suffered from allergies in the past. Dissatisfied with the soaps and detergents on the market, they decided to do something about it.

Steve teamed up with an American holistic doctor who had created natural chemical-free laundry balls that cleaned without any harsh chemicals – making them perfect for allergy and eczema sufferers and kinder to the environment.

Steve decided to launch the laundry balls in the UK, and he and Gabsy set up their first company, 21st Century Health, to market the newly named ‘Aquaballs’. Still bestsellers to this day, the first batches were dispatched from Steve’s parents’ garage!

Slowly, Steve and Gabsy expanded their range, but only stocked products that were suitable for allergy sufferers and stood up to their strict eco and organic standards. They even created their very own chemical-free soap, Ecosopia, which was an instant hit.

As demand grew and product ranges expanded, the need for a new website came about - and EcoHip was born. But Steve and Gabsy’s golden rule remained in place: to only sell products they truly believe in and that they would be happy to use themselves or on their daughter.

But EcoHip is more than just another online shopping website. The EcoHip mindset is all about challenging conventional thinking, whether that means how you run a business or bring up your children.
